Le Tigre opened and they were fantastic.
Beck had a total jump the shark moment for me during the show. He played Nobody's Fault But My Own, a song I really like, and while he played it they flashed pictures of Beck looking sensitive up on the screen. I couldn't stop laughing. Is a picture of the guy playing the song looking serious supposed to increase my enjoyment of the song? How much more Beck do you really need at that moment? I guess I'm not a member of the cult of Beck. It would be like the Rolling Stone playing You Can't Always Get What You Want while giant stadium sized pictures of Mick Jagger frowning flashed behind him.
There was also a moment of bizarre genius. After a particularly energetic song, Beck said, "Well, it's time for the band to eat. They need sustenance." The roadies brought out a table and food and the band ate while Beck played solo acoustic stuff. During one of the songs, the band suddenly started tapping on the plates and glasses on the table. They played a decent rhythm track that way. A camera turned on and the table was projected on the screen. You could see them tapping the glasses and the rhythm got tighter. It ended up being impressive. It reminded me of an old story about Brian Wilson during his Smile phase.
On the way home, we passed by a homeless guy holding a pair of tube socks in his right hand while he screamed at the sky, "You better rain tonight, bitch! If you don't rain, I'm going to fuck you up!"
